Michael Teacher (Chairman)
Michael is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a Masters in Financial Management. He has been CEO of businesses in different sectors over the past 35 years. As well as being Chair of Jeyes, Michael is also Chairman of Avgol, one of the leading global players in the hygienic disposables sector with a $400m turnover.
From June 2006, he was the CEO of Ontex NV, the leading European supplier of hygienic disposables and number 2 to Procter & Gamble in this sector in Europe. The Ontex business grew significantly under his leadership from a turnover of €900m in 2006 to an expected turnover in 2013 of €1.5billion. In the same period the EBIDTA grew from €90m to the current running rate of in excess of €200m per annum. The business expanded its footprint significantly and now has 14 plants throughout Europe and the rest of the world. The plants are located in Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Turkey, Algeria, China, Australia with the sales of the products taking place in over 130 different countries. He stepped down in June 2013.
Prior to Ontex he was CEO of Unipoly Holdings and of Peek Holdings. Michael spent 13 years with Hillsdown Holdings PLC, latterly as Chief Executive, a business listed on the London Stock Exchange operating primarily in the food sector with a turnover of £2bn.
